Fish production in Kyrgyzstan rises more than sixfold since 2019

Bishkek, April 13, 2026 /Kabar/. Fish production in Kyrgyzstan has increased more than sixfold over the past six years, Deputy Director of the Department of Fisheries Nurazamat Akparaly uulu said at a meeting of the Agrarian Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh.

According to him, the country produced just over 3,000 tons of fish in 2019, while by the end of 2025 the figure had reached 19,500 tons.

Akparaly uulu also said the Department of Fisheries provides paid services, including the development of reservoir passports, scientific research, and biological assessments related to fish farming.

He added that, under the law on aquaculture, reservoirs for fish farming are allocated on a competitive basis.
