Green energy: Kyrgyzstan aims to join Caspian corridor

Bishkek, June 1, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev and Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met within the framework of the international forum being held in Baku.

As reported by the department, the parties discussed a number of important initiatives that will bring strategic relations in the energy sector to a new level.

"Kyrgyzstan is considering the possibility of joining the Caspian Green Energy Corridor initiative. Kyrgyz side noted that the country has high hydropower potential and will play an important role in the Unified Energy System of Central Asia. This step will pave the way for the export of clean energy to the international market," the minister said.

The meeting also addressed the issue of uninterrupted power supply to the modern tourist complex of Azerbaijan, which is being built on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake.

In addition, Ibraev proposed expanding cooperation with the Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR and increasing the volume of diesel fuel supplies to the country.

As a result, the ministers of two countries agreed to strengthen energy ties between Central Asia and the South Caucasus, intensify cooperation in the supply of green energy and petroleum products.
