Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2026. /Kabar/. On September 24-25, Head of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, Almaz Baketaev, participated in a high-level briefing organized by the International Monetary Fund in Washington.
According to the National Bank, the briefing addressed key areas of central bank’s activity, including monetary policy, ensuring the stability of the financial system, and strengthening the institutional framework.
Special attention was given to international approaches to managing international reserves, developing payment infrastructure, and developing a central bank digital currency.
As part of the event, Almaz Baketaev met with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. The parties discussed the latest trends and challenges in the global economy and noted the importance of continuing constructive dialogue within Kyrgyzstan's cooperation with the IMF.
