Hiking in Kyrgyzstan to become safer and more environmentally friendly

Bishkek, Oct 2.2025 /Kabar/. The Tourism Support Fund and the Department of Tourism held a working meeting on the development and modernization of mountain trails.

According to the fund, representatives of Union of Hiking Tourism of Kyrgyzstan, the SWITCH-Asia program, Nurlan Kasymov, Head of the Fund's Infrastructure Projects Department, and Aisha Mambetalieva, President of the Kyrgyz Association of Tour Operators, participated in the discussions.

The participants discussed expanding the existing trail network, introducing new eco-trails throughout the country, improving navigation and safety, and joint efforts to promote the trails among tourists. Particular attention was paid to balancing infrastructure development with the preservation of Kyrgyzstan's natural heritage.

Additionally, issues were raised regarding the modernization of existing eco-trails, the creation and exploration of new routes, ensuring environmental sustainability and minimal impact on nature, and developing measures to preserve natural diversity and maintain the cleanliness of mountainous areas.
