Bishkek, Sept. 30, 2025. /Kabar/. On September 29, the Honorary Consulate of the Kyrgyz Republic opened in Chennai, India. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event was attended by the Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to India, Askar Beshimov.
Dr. Prakash Rao, entrepreneur and public figure who has earned recognition in Chennai's business and social circles, has been appointed Head of the Honorary Consulate.
During the event, Ambassador Beshimov congratulated Dr. Prakash Rao and emphasized that the Honorary Consulate will serve as an additional platform for expanding bilateral ties in the economy, education, and culture, as well as strengthening contacts between citizens of two countries. He also noted Chennai's potential as an important hub for India to expand cooperation in investment, tourism, and innovation. One example of this practical partnership is Chennai-based Deccan Gold Mines which operates in Kyrgyzstan's mining sector.
Dr. Prakash Rao, in turn, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and confirmed his readiness to actively promote bilateral projects, develop business and cultural initiatives, and support Kyrgyz citizens living in the region.
The opening of the Honorary Consulate in Chennai marks a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Indian relations, creating a reliable platform for further expanding the partnership and strengthening the friendship between our countries.
