Commodity turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan reached 1.2 billion US dollars that is 7% more compared to the previous year, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Tajikistan ranks among the top three largest trading partners of Kazakhstan. The countries aim to increase sales up to more than 2 billion US dollars in the future in line with the Presidents’ tasks, Deputy Prime Minister - Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu told at the meeting with his counterpart, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, in Astana.
He prioritized cooperation in the agrarian sector. Kazakhstan’s wheat delivery to Tajikistan grew by 24%, and flour by 37% in 2024 expressing the country's readiness to further boost exports.
The ministers also debated pressing issues of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic and education sectors.
As earlier reported, last August the Head of State paid a state visit to Tajikistan and metwith President Emomali Rahmon. Following the talks the countries signed an Agreement on Allied Relations, an important move for the development of strategic partnership.
Notably, following the investment forum held in Dushanbe last August, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan signed a package of commercial agreements and contracts worth nearly 900 million US dollars.
