Bishkek, April 14, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of his working visit to Washington, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev held talks with WB Managing Director of Operations Anna Bjerde on the sidelines of the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of bilateral cooperation.

The chairman touched upon the current economic situation in the country. He noted that the average annual growth rate of the economy over the past four years was 10.2%, while in 2025 the GDP growth rate reached 11.1%.

"As a result of the ongoing reforms, more than 273 thousand new jobs were created in 2025. High economic growth and positive expectations of the population from the ongoing reforms became an important factor in increasing investments in fixed assets by 18.4% compared to 2024," he noted.

Adylbek Kasymaliev also added that Kyrgyzstan is ready to use advanced international experience in various fields, such as the experience of the United Arab Emirates in implementing reforms through the "Government Accelerators" program and Japan's experience in supporting rural areas and stimulating exports through the "One Village - One Product" project.

Then he spoke about the current status of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP, one of the most relevant and priority projects for Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to joint efforts, progress is being made on the project.

Adylbek Kasymaliev also noted the importance of mountainous regions, which are home to more than 15% of the world's population and provide 60-80% of the world's fresh water. At the same time, these regions are among the most vulnerable ecosystems to climate change.

In this regard, we call on the World Bank and the Global Environment Facility to consider the possibility of creating a global financial instrument to support investment in mountainous regions through a partnership," the chairman noted.

In turn, Anna Bjerde highly appreciated Kyrgyzstan's efforts to implement reforms and expressed her readiness to support initiatives aimed at agriculture, green energy and regional development.

She noted the importance of the human capital development initiative, adding that this is the key to the country's sustainable growth and development. She highly appreciated the efforts of the Kyrgyz authorities to improve the education and healthcare sectors, as well as implement programs to improve the skills of the workforce.

As a result of the talks, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation and implementing joint projects aimed at sustainable development of the Kyrgyz economy. They expressed their readiness to actively cooperate in the areas of infrastructure projects, energy, agriculture and industry. The two sides also noted the importance of continuous dialogue to achieve their goals and address the pressing issues facing Kyrgyzstan.
