Bishkek, Feb. 4, 2026. /Kabar/. Today, February 4, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev held a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbaev.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, during the conversation, the parties discussed current issues related to the Organization's current activities in the context of Kyrgyzstan's SCO Presidency in 2026. Particular attention was paid to preparations for the next meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council, scheduled for 2026.
Jeenbek Kulubaev emphasized that the upcoming summit is of strategic importance, as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the organization's founding. In this context, the substantive importance of SCO chairmanship slogan, "25 Years of the SCO: Together for Sustainable Peace, Development, and Prosperity," was noted.
Minister also emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to improve the regulatory framework, aimed at enhancing the organization's effectiveness, and to thoroughly develop the substantive content of the upcoming summit.
The parties also noted that the anniversary provides an opportunity for a comprehensive analysis of the results achieved and the development of new vectors for the SCO's long-term development. Aspects of implementing joint initiatives in regional security, economic partnership, and institutional strengthening of the organization were discussed.
