Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2025. /Kabar/. Ministry of Justice and British Embassy signed a memorandum on development of English law and establishment of an International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR) within the Tamchy Special Financial Investment Territory (Tamchy SFIT). According to Ministry of Justice, Tamchy SFIT is a part of the Issyk-Kul region with a special legal regime and status, established to attract investment, stimulate economic growth, and develop tourism, transport, and resort infrastructure. It is specified that the law on Tamchy SFIT provides for the creation of favorable conditions for doing business and reliable guarantees for the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of investors, including foreign ones. All disputes within the Tamchy SFIT will be dealt by ICDR, which operates under English law.
With the assistance of the British Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic, a team of consultants has been engaged to provide expert support on the implementation of English law. Work is underway to establish a neutral and reliable center for resolving commercial and investment disputes in Kyrgyzstan, based on best international practices. It is noted that this project represents an important step toward achieving the country's goal of creating a modern, internationally recognized platform for impartial dispute resolution. It is also possible that disputes arising outside the Tamchy could also be heard at ICDR.
