Bishkek, Sept. 29, 2026. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz delegation, led by Minister of Justice Almaz Aiylchiev, presented its experience in criminal justice reform at the XV UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi.
According to the Ministry of Justice, on September 26, Almaz Aiylchiev spoke at the High-Level Segment of the UN Congress. He presented Kyrgyzstan's priorities in criminal justice, noting the importance of digital technologies, probation development, and international cooperation.
Kyrgyzstan also supported the Pledge4Justice initiative and committed to strengthening international cooperation in criminal matters in the digital age for 2026–2031 in support of the implementation of the UN Convention against Cybercrime.
Minister Aiylchiev also participated in the ministerial event "From Kyoto to Abu Dhabi: Translating Ideas into Action in Criminal Justice and Offender Management." Participants discussed modern approaches to crime prevention, probation, resocialization, and alternative sentencing.
Furthermore, on September 28, the Congress hosted a joint side event, "Digitalizing the Justice System: Progress and Pitfalls," with the participation of the justice ministers of Kyrgyzstan and Kenya, with the support of the UNODC and the EU. The event focused on sharing experiences in the digital transformation of criminal justice and the implementation of related programs in Kyrgyzstan and Kenya.
