Bishkek, Jan. 30, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Minister of Health Kanybek Dosmambetov, introducing the new head, Bolot Zhunusov, to the staff of the state-owned enterprise Kyrgyzpharma, outlined one of the key priorities for future work: a complete review of approaches to the procurement of medicines and medical equipment.

According to the minister, the new team should establish direct cooperation exclusively with trusted manufacturers and abandon the practice of purchasing through intermediaries. He specifically emphasized the unacceptability of purchasing medical equipment from so-called one night companies that disappear after delivery, leaving healthcare facilities without service, repairs, or warranties.

Minister of Health noted that purchases should be made from global manufacturers capable of ensuring long-term and stable operation of the equipment for 15 years or more. He also cited the transition to purchasing using international nonproprietary names as an important principle, which will eliminate commercial manipulation and the imposition of specific brands.

"Each tender must be focused on the real needs of the healthcare system, not on the interests of individual companies," the minister emphasized.

Furthermore, the reform plans to create a centralized service unit for the maintenance of medical equipment, as well as to employ full-time medical engineers in the country's hospitals.
