Kyrgyz president concludes his visit to Turkistan

Bishkek, May 16, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov's participation in the informal summit of the heads of state of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Turkistan, Kazakhstan, has concluded. This was reported by the press service of the Kyrgyz President.

On the sidelines of the summit, the head of state held talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The two sides focused on promoting joint initiatives in trade, economics, investment, transport and logistics, energy, and cultural and humanitarian areas.

The president then took part in a capsule-laying ceremony for the construction of the "Center for Turkic Civilization."

The ceremony took place via videoconference with the participation of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan.

The "Center for Turkic Civilization" project aims to preserve, study, and promote the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples. The center will be built in the city of Turkestan, considered one of the spiritual centers of the Turkic world.

The presidents were also presented with a strategy for developing the AI ​​economy and digital interaction among the Organization's member states.

The Kazakh side reported on ongoing initiatives in the areas of digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, satellite communications, and computing power development. Approaches to implementing digital solutions in public administration were also presented.

Speaking at the OTS informal summit Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that the summit's theme, dedicated to artificial intelligence and digital development, directly reflects current global trends, as technology is becoming a key factor in economic growth and global competitiveness.

He noted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Turkic states in the field of digitalization and artificial intelligence to create an independent geo-economic and technological center.

The head of state also spoke about Kyrgyzstan's achievements in digitalization. He noted that the country has a Digital Code in place, the "Tunduk" portal, through which citizens have access to 195 government services online, is actively developing, and digital technologies are already widely integrated into government, business, and everyday life.

At the conclusion of the summit, the heads of state signed a joint declaration.

During his working visit, President Sadyr Zhaparov, along with the heads of state visited the Azret Sultan National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve and the Khoja Ahmed Yassawi Mausoleum.

Having completed his participation in the informal summit in Turkistan, Sadyr Zhaparov returned to Bishkek on May 15.
