Bishkek, May 2, 2026. /Kabar/. Special Presidential Representative for Special Assignments Bakyt Torobaev held a series of bilateral events in Hangzhou, China, aimed at expanding practical cooperation between the regions of Kyrgyzstan and Zhejiang Province.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers press service, Torobaev met with Zhejiang Province Governor Liu Jie on April 29, 2026. During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for deepening interregional cooperation and intensifying business ties.
Particular attention was paid to developing cooperation in priority areas, including digitalization, logistics, energy, and transport. The Chinese side expressed interest in expanding direct contacts with Kyrgyzstan's regions, including establishing sister-city relations between Hangzhou and Osh.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a return visit by a Zhejiang Provincial delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic with the participation of leading regional enterprises, including Alibaba, Geely, and other major companies.
On April 30, a Kyrgyz-Chinese business forum was held in Hangzhou, attended by over 150 companies. In his speech, Torobaev noted Kyrgyzstan's steady economic growth, ongoing reforms to improve the investment climate, and existing government support measures for investors.
Chinese companies expressed strong interest in implementing joint investment and trade projects. Forum participants had the opportunity to directly discuss specific initiatives, ask questions, and establish business contacts with representatives of the Kyrgyz delegation.
The event was held in a constructive and businesslike atmosphere, confirming the parties' mutual interest in expanding practical cooperation.
