Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan sign agreement on state border

Bishkek, March 13, 2025. /Kabar/. Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed on Thursday in Bishkek an Agreement on the state border between the two countries.

The final protocol on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border was signed in Bishkek on February 21 on the results of a joint meeting of the government delegations of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border.

Then, the parties initialed the following projects - an agreement on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, an agreement on the construction and use of highways, the development and use of a highway intersection, an agreement on ensuring access to water management and energy facilities.

On February 27, the joint committee of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan approved the above-mentioned projects.

After the signing of the state border agreement, a ceremony was held to resume the work of two checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border. The presidents of the two countries took part in the ceremony via video link.

The border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan was closed after armed border conflict in May 2021.
