Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2025. /Kabar/. As part of his working visit to Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, the minister noted that Kyrgyzstan highly values ESCAP's contribution to advancing the socioeconomic development of countries in the region and expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in priority areas for the country. The parties exchanged views on sustainable development, the climate agenda, energy, trade development, and transport connectivity. Particular attention was paid to the upcoming Kyrgyz Republic chairmanship of the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in 2026.
Kulubaev expressed his willingness to closely coordinate with ESCAP to ensure the practical focus of the chairmanship, including developing the transport sector and promoting project activities.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further deepening cooperation and promoting joint initiatives aimed at sustainable development and strengthening regional cooperation.
