Bishkek, June 4, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ulan Niyazbekov met with the Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Valdesi Urkiza.
The meeting took place as part of the meeting of the ministers of internal affairs and public security of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which is taking place in Bishkek.
The parties discussed current issues of international cooperation in law enforcement, as well as prospects for further strengthening collaboration between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and Interpol in combating transnational organized crime.
Particular attention was paid to the exchange of operationally relevant information and the international search for criminals. It was noted that modern challenges and threats require the consolidation of efforts by law enforcement agencies of various countries and the further development of international cooperation in ensuring security and law enforcement.
Ulan Niyazbekov emphasized that cooperation with Interpol remains a priority area of international activity for the Ministry and plays a crucial role in increasing the effectiveness of the fight against cross-border crime.
In turn, Valdesi Urquiza expressed his readiness to further develop the partnership, noting the importance of strengthening international ties and practical mechanisms for joint work. He emphasized that Interpol's National Central Bureaus perform a key unifying function, ensuring the coordination of law enforcement agencies in the fight against international crime.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in expanding cooperation aimed at ensuring public safety, protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens, increasing the effectiveness of international efforts to combat crime, and strengthening security at the regional and global levels.
