Kyrgyzstan, Islamic Development Bank expand cooperation

Bishkek, Oct. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. A meeting took place today, October 8, at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce between Deputy Minister Mederbek Tumanov and the Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Hammad Zafar Hundal, along with other bank representatives.

According to the ministry, Mederbek Tumanov outlined key areas for future cooperation during the meeting: the implementation of ongoing projects, the preparation of new initiatives, and the expansion of collaboration in sectors prioritized by the Kyrgyz Republic.

The deputy minister noted that the Islamic Development Bank is an important and reliable partner for Kyrgyzstan. Their long-standing cooperation covers a wide range of issues regarding the country's socio-economic development. With IsDB support, a number of significant projects aimed at infrastructure development and fostering economic growth are currently being implemented or developed.

Mederbek Tumanov emphasized the importance of regular, direct dialogue between the ministry and the bank's leadership. This format of interaction allows for the prompt addressing of emerging issues, the finding of joint solutions, and the identification of new opportunities for cooperation.

Mederbek Tumanov also congratulated Hammad Zafar Hundal on his appointment as Regional Director of the Islamic Development Bank and expressed confidence that his professional experience would contribute to further strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the IsDB.
