Bishkek, Aug. 18, 2026 /Kabar/. The World Nomad Games and the SCO summit are strengthening cultural cooperation between countries, film scholar and honored cultural figure of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulbara Tolomushova told Kabar News Agency.
According to her, the World Nomad Games popularize the culture of nomadic peoples and showcase everything from sports competitions to handicrafts. In the lead-up to the SCO summit, filmmakers from SCO member states also focused on expanding cooperation in the film industry.
"We are very proud to host the World Nomad Games. The opening ceremony will take place at the Bishkek Arena, one of the largest stadiums in Central Asia. We are delighted that the Nomad Games will be held here again. We wish the Games success, which will allow us to present our country to the world. I would also like to note that Kyrgyzstan holds the SCO Presidency this year, so it can be said that special attention was paid to strengthening cultural ties between the organization's member states. Filmmakers from these countries gathered at the film festival, which was held at the Cholpon Cinema in Cholpon-Ata. Competition films, as well as popular Kyrgyz films, were screened there. The festival was dedicated to the 90th birthday of the outstanding Kyrgyz cinematographer and director Kadyrzhan Kydyraliev. The festival's Grand Prix was awarded to Aktan Arym Kubat's film "Kara. Kyzyl. Sary." The festival was a great success. Such events strengthen friendship between peoples and cultural cooperation," noted Gulbara Tolomushova.
