Bishkek, May 28, 2026 /Kabar/. Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Technical Supervision Akyl Toktobaev spoke about measures to strengthen environmental monitoring in Issyk-Kul ahead of the summer tourist season at ceremony presenting official vehicles in Cholpon-Ata.
During the ceremony, 15 JAC vehicles were handed over.
He noted that the strengthening of environmental monitoring is being carried out within the framework of President Sadyr Zhaparov's decree "On urgent measures to preserve the ecology of Issyk-Kul Lake."
According to him, ensuring environmental safety at the start of summer tourist season in Issyk-Kul is top priority.

"Therefore, we are conducting a garrison review of our ministry, and ministry employees are being given special instructions regarding measures taken against violators of environmental legislation," the minister noted.
He outlined key areas of work.
"Constant patrols will be organized along the lake shore, in recreation areas, boarding houses, and public spaces. The primary focus will be on identifying instances of water pollution in the lake and its shores".
The minister also emphasized that oversight of wastewater treatment facilities has been strengthened.
"In accordance with environmental requirements, the activities of boarding houses and guest houses without appropriate wastewater treatment facilities or septic tanks will be prohibited. Law enforcement agencies will assist the environmental and technical supervision service in this area," he said. He also noted measures taken against violators.
"Significant fines will be imposed on individuals who park cars close to the lake shore, litter, or operate scooters and boats in a manner that endangers vacationers and pollutes the water," the minister stated.
He reiterated that the law strictly prohibits washing cars, parking vehicles, and engaging in water-polluting activities within 100-500 meters of the Issyk-Kul shore.
"Explanatory and enforcement efforts to limit the use and sale of disposable plastic tableware and bags within the lake area will be strengthened," he added.
Regarding technical support, the minister noted that this equipment will be used to identify illegal dumps, protect natural areas, and strengthen controls against water, land, and air pollution.
"Environmental safety is the responsibility not only of the state but of every citizen. In the face of increasing climate change and environmental threats, our service must be equipped with modern technology and facilities," he concluded.
