Bishkek, June 5, 2026 /Kabar/. Specialists from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan conducted joint cross-border surveys of border areas to monitor the spread of harmful locusts, the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The events were held as part of a Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) project to improve locust pest management in Central Asian countries.
Joint surveys were conducted with Tajik specialists in the Batken region, and with Kazakh colleagues in the Issyk-Kul, Chui, and Talas regions.
During the work, the specialists surveyed locust pest outbreaks, assessed the phytosanitary situation, exchanged monitoring results, and discussed further cooperation in plant protection.
According to the ministry, the results of the cross-border surveys will contribute to strengthening cooperation between neighboring countries, improving information exchange systems, timely detection of locust outbreaks, and increasing the effectiveness of preventive measures.
