Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan discuss bilateral cooperation in agriculture

Bishkek, May 26, 2026 /Kabar/. As part of a working visit to Tajikistan, Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, met with Tajik Minister of Agriculture Kurbon Hakimzoda.

According to Cabinet of Ministers, during the meeting, issues related to deepening bilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in agriculture following the reciprocal state visits of the heads of state in 2025, the implementation of documents signed at the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the two countries, and the further development of cooperation in this sector were discussed.

The possibility of developing a joint roadmap for the implementation of signed agreements and protocols in agriculture was discussed. This will systematize joint work, identify specific activities, implementation deadlines, and responsible agencies, and improve the effectiveness of practical cooperation.

They also discuss wide range of bilateral cooperation issues in agriculture, including veterinary and phytosanitary issues, livestock and fisheries, crop production, as well as scientific and technical cooperation and seed production. They agreed on exchanging experience between the relevant government agencies of the two countries.
