Bishkek, April 9, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has tightened penalties for harming wildlife, the country’s Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision reported.

The ministry said that the head of the Cabinet of Ministers signed a decree significantly increasing fines for harming wildlife. This measure is aimed at preserving biodiversity and strengthening the fight against poaching.

According to the new regulations, fines for illegally harvesting ibex have tripled to 300,000 soms, and for roe deer to 100,000 soms. Fines for harming white and black storks have also been established at 30,000 soms.

In addition to revising the fines, the document improves the distribution mechanism; a portion of the collected amounts will now be used to provide financial incentives to individuals who identify environmental violations and assist in their prosecution.
