Bishkek, March 16, 2026. /Kabar/. Events marking International School Meals Day have begun in Kyrgyzstan, UN World Food Programme informs.

The events are organized by the Ministry of Education, the UN World Food Programme, and the Russian Institute for Industrial and Social Foodservice.

From March 18 to 27, a unique educational campaign, "Unsung Heroes," will take place in the Chui and Jalal-Abad regions. This is a series of interactive activities culminating in the creation of a creative "dossier" on each food service employee.

Two schools will serve as key venues for Healthy Eating Week:

- In Chui Region – the Baytik Kanai Uulu Comprehensive School (Alamedin District).

- In Manas city – Comprehensive School No. 9 named after R. Sanatbaev.

For two weeks, fourth-grade students, together with their senior student mentors, will gain knowledge through game mechanics, teamwork, and physical activity. At the end of each lesson, each child will receive a copy of "Educational Games about Healthy Eating" to complete at home with their parents.

The younger students will become real "agents," collecting information about the "unsung heroes" of school meals and creating "identikit" portraits of school cooks and kitchen staff, created using various arts and crafts techniques. By participating in this "investigation," the young agents will gain a new perspective on those who stand at the school stove every day.

The project's organizers have set themselves an important social goal: to change children's attitudes toward school food and to inspire gratitude toward food service staff, whose work often goes unnoticed.
