Kyrgyzstan to have National Chess Academy

Bishkek, Sept. 4, 2026. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Decree "On the National Chess Academy under the Kyrgyz Chess Union," the presidential administration reported.

The document aims to improve the system for training international-class chess players, create a modern base for developing the intellectual potential of young people, and provide systematic support for talented athletes.

The Decree provides for:

  1. Support the initiative of the association of legal entities "Kyrgyz Chess Union" to establish the institution "National Chess Academy under the Kyrgyz Chess Union";
  2. Establish state support measures in the form of incentives for athletes who demonstrate high athletic performance, as well as for coaches, for participation in international competitions and training camps, for the purchase of equipment, and for other matters related to professional development, in accordance with the rules established by the Kyrgyz Chess Union.

It should be noted that the aforementioned Decree dated June 3, 2026, No. 196, provides for the establishment of a Chess Development Fund in the Kyrgyz Republic, with 100 million soms allocated from the Presidential Fund of the Kyrgyz Republic, to facilitate the creation of a material and technical base, and the development and popularization of chess.
