Bishkek, Aug. 13, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is preparing to launch production of electric vehicles under the national brand BARS, Ministry of Economy and Commerce reports.
According to the ministry, project to create an automotive industrial cluster focused on the production and assembly of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and specialized vehicles with electric engines is being implemented in Kyrgyzstan.
Initially, production is planned to be organized using large-knockdown assembly, followed by a transition to completely knocked-down assembly and a full production cycle. This approach will gradually increase the level of localization, establish the production of automotive components, and build domestic engineering and technical capabilities.
The plant's products are intended both for the domestic market and for export to Central Asian countries and the Eurasian Economic Union. The plant's production capacity will be up to 10,000 vehicles per year. The project is being implemented on a 15-hectare plot of land and is expected to create 100 jobs.
According to the information provided, the project is 75% complete. The launch of the plant is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. Financing is being provided entirely by the project initiator. The state has provided support for the land plot.
"The project will contribute to the development of domestic mechanical engineering, the introduction of modern production technologies, the creation of new jobs, and the strengthening of Kyrgyzstan's export potential," the statement says.
