Kyrgyzstan toughens halal industry requirements

Bishkek, June 11, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz code of offenses amended and will come into force in Kyrgyzstan on June 15. These amendments provide for administrative liability for violating legal requirements in the halal industry.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the new Article 385¹ establishes penalties for failure to comply with requirements in the production, storage, transportation, and sale of halal products, as well as for providing halal services without supporting documents.

The changes are also aimed at combating counterfeit halal certificates, falsified labeling, and other unfair practices that mislead consumers.

The agency held a meeting dedicated to the practical application of the new legislation and its enforcement.

"The measures adopted are aimed at increasing the transparency of the halal product market, protecting consumer rights, and strengthening the export potential of domestic producers," the statement says.
