Bishkek, April 15, 2026. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Abebe Adugna, WB Regional Director for Prosperity in Western and Central Africa, as part of the IMF-World Bank Group Spring Meetings.
During the meeting, the chairman provided a detailed overview of the current economic situation in the country, noting the significant strengthening of macroeconomic stability. It was emphasized that balanced fiscal and monetary policies, combined with decisive structural reforms, have led to increased investor confidence and international recognition of the ongoing reforms.
During the meeting, Adylbek Kasymaliev detailed the strategic priorities of the country's National Development Program. He briefed the World Bank representative on the government's measures to adapt to climate change and gradually transition to a green economy. The chairman placed particular emphasis on ensuring gender equality and women's economic empowerment.
Adylbek Kasymaliev identified human capital development as the foundation for long-term economic growth, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly modernizing the healthcare and education systems. He also emphasized ongoing efforts to further simplify business procedures and create the most attractive investment climate in the country.
Separate section highlighted Kyrgyzstan's interest in actively participating in the World Bank's AgriConnect initiative, aimed at modernizing the agricultural sector and integrating farms into global markets.
In turn, World Bank Regional Director Abebe Adugna expressed high praise for the country's economic performance, noting that Kyrgyzstan's growth rate is truly impressive.
WB representative noted the need to develop a joint roadmap for future projects, which will allow for systematization and acceleration of further cooperation. He confirmed that areas such as the AgriConnect initiative, tourism development, and the strategic Kambarata-1 HPP project are absolute priorities for the World Bank in Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to close cooperation to promptly implement the initiatives discussed.
