Bishkek, Feb. 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan faces increase of road accidents. According to data from the main directorate for control over law enforcement and information technology in legal statistics of the Prosecutor General's Office, at the end of 2025, 8,456 road accidents were registered in the country, a 19.1% increase compared to 2024.
The largest share of road accidents occurred in:
Bishkek - 27%;
Chui Region - 13%;
Osh Region - 24%;
Jalal-Abad Region - 23%.
As a result of road accidents in 2025:
More than 12,000 people were injured, 16.1% increase compared to the previous year; 900 people died, increase of 21.1%.
Particularly alarming is the increase in the number of accidents involving minors:
2,200 incidents were recorded, a 23.7% increase compared to the 2024 figure;
121 children died ( increase of 22%);
approximately 2,600 children were injured (an increase of 24%).
During the reporting period, 395 accidents were recorded involving drivers under the influence of alcohol. Compared to the previous year, this figure increased by 11.3%.
Regulatory authorities note that these data indicate the need for strengthened preventative measures, improved driver discipline, and additional attention to road safety, especially in large cities and regions with high accident rates.
