Largest energy project to strengthen Kyrgyzstan's energy security

Bishkek, Feb. 27, 2026 /Kabar/. The construction of the Kambarata-1 hydroelectric power station will be the largest energy project in the history of Kyrgyzstan. President Sadyr Zhaparov announced this at national meeting in Yntymak Ordo.

"Another historic project is the construction of the Kambarata-1HPP with a capacity of 1,860 megawatts. Kyrgyzstan will become an electricity exporter, contributing to the energy sustainability of the entire region," the president said.

He emphasized that the project's implementation will strengthen the country's energy security and be an important step toward economic growth and sustainable development in the region.

The event was also attended by cabinet members, heads of government agencies, presidential plenipotentiary representatives in the regions, the mayors of Bishkek and Osh, and district akims.
