Ministry inspects construction of new energy facilities in Bishkek

Bishkek, June 1, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Deputy Minister of Energy Salavat Sadyrakunov visited several large renewable energy and hydropower facilities.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the main purpose of the visit was to monitor the progress of construction work, adherence to approved schedules, and the readiness of the facilities for commissioning.

During the visit to the CAREC and Bishkek Solar solar power plants, as well as the Orto-Tokoi hydroelectric power plant, the current stages of project implementation, equipment supply and installation issues, and measures taken to ensure timely completion of construction were discussed.

At the CAREC solar power plant site, the Deputy Minister reviewed the progress of the first phase of the project. It was noted that the completion of construction work on the first phase, with a capacity of 150 MW, is scheduled for mid-June of this year. The head of the ministry emphasized the need to strictly adhere to established deadlines and ensure high quality of the work performed.

During the visit to the Bishkek Solar site, the technical solutions used in the plant's construction and future plans for the project were discussed. The commissioning of the first phase, with a capacity of 100 MW, is expected in August of this year. The deputy minister noted that the timely implementation of the project is crucial for strengthening the country's energy system and increasing renewable energy generation.

Particular attention was paid to the construction of the 21 MW Orto-Tokoi Hydroelectric Power Plant, which is in the final stages of implementation. Final construction and installation work is currently underway at the site. Completion of construction and preparation of the plant for commissioning are expected by July of this year. During the inspection of the site, Sadyrakunov instructed that ongoing quality control of the work being performed and that deviations from the approved schedule be prevented.

Summarizing the results of the working visit, the deputy minister noted that the implementation of renewable energy and hydropower projects is a key area of ​​development for the country's energy sector. He stated that the introduction of new generating capacity will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's energy security, improve the reliability of energy supply to consumers, and ensure the achievement of the strategic goals defined in the National Development Strategy until 2030.
