Bishkek, May 21, 2026. /Kabar/. Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, began today's workday with a meeting as part of Open Cabinet media project.
Representatives of government agencies, private companies operating in this sector, banks, and the media are participating in the meeting, which is dedicated to the development of micropower generation.
As Erlist Akunbekov noted, the development of micropower generation is of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan today. A relevant law has already been adopted in this area. Furthermore, the president has set the goal of achieving energy independence in the coming years.
"Microgeneration primarily solves two important problems. First, individuals will begin to independently meet their electricity needs. If the installed equipment pays for itself within five years, then electricity can be used virtually free of charge. Second, it creates the conditions for generating additional income by selling excess generated electricity back into the grid," the minister emphasized.
It's worth noting that Erlist Akunbekov, Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, is holding meetings accompanied by media representatives as part of Open Cabinet media project and will also visit a number of facilities.
