Bishkek, March 12, 2026. /Kabar/. On March 11, Osh Mayor Zhanarbek Akaev met with British Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Nicholas Bowler.
According to the city hall, during the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, education, sports, improving urban infrastructure, and expanding investment opportunities.
The mayor expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the British Export Finance Agency (UKEF). Specifically, a proposal was voiced to build a modern bypass road around the city with financial support from the agency.
Akaev noted that the implementation of this project will:
Optimize traffic flows within the city.
Reduce traffic congestion.
Reroute transit traffic outside the city limits.
Improve overall road safety.
It is noted that at the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen the partnership between Osh and the UK and expressed interest in implementing joint economic, investment, and infrastructure projects in the future.
