Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2025. /Kabar/. Artificial intelligence technologies should serve exclusively the goals of peace, conflict prevention, and the protection of human life, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said on September 24, speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on "Artificial Intelligence: International Security and Peace" in New York.
According to the presidential press service, at the beginning of his speech, the head of state expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, for excellent organization of the event. He emphasized that the inclusion of artificial intelligence on the Security Council agenda is extremely timely and relevant.
President noted that Kyrgyzstan is currently actively working to introduce artificial intelligence technologies into public administration and key sectors of the economy. As part of the Digital Transformation Concept for 2024–2028, the country is implementing a number of initiatives, including the creation of a national artificial intelligence platform, a high-performance computing center, and the development of educational programs to train specialists.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan is actively participating in initiatives of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and is discussing joint projects with Central Asian states and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The head of state noted that artificial intelligence is becoming one of the most advanced and transformative technologies of the 21st century and is already impacting all areas of life.
At the same time, he noted that alongside these advantages, there are also new challenges. These include the use of artificial intelligence for military purposes, the development of autonomous weapons systems, cybersecurity threats, and the spread of disinformation.
These risks have the potential to undermine trust among members of the global community, threaten strategic stability, and potentially lead to new forms of conflict. Kyrgyzstan firmly believes that artificial intelligence technologies should serve exclusively the goals of peace, conflict prevention, and the protection of human life, the head of state emphasized.
In this regard, he called on the international community to develop international standards and rules for the responsible use of new technologies.
Furthermore, Sadyr Zhaparov noted that the benefits of artificial intelligence should be available not only in developed countries, but also in developing nations.
Concluding his speech, President Sadyr Zhaparov announced that Kyrgyzstan is running for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028. He assured that, if elected, the country is ready to contribute to efforts to ensure the peaceful use of artificial intelligence and to actively participate in joint initiatives.
