Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2026 /Kabar/. Today, September 17, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Korea, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov held talks with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Han Song-sook in Seoul.
The parties discussed current issues of Kyrgyz-Korean cooperation, focusing on expanding trade and economic ties, attracting investment, and implementing joint projects.
Prime Minister Han Song-sook, welcoming the Kyrgyz President, noted the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations and expressed the Korean side's readiness to expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
The prime minister emphasized the importance of creating favorable conditions for the operations of Korean companies in Kyrgyzstan and the further development of business ties between the two countries.
Han Song-sook noted the growth of tourist flows from the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan, emphasizing that direct air service, which has been in effect since 2023, will contribute to expanding tourist exchanges and strengthening bilateral ties.
The prime minister of the Republic of Korea emphasized that Korea possesses significant technological potential, while Kyrgyzstan possesses abundant natural resources. In this regard, she noted the ample opportunities for combining the potential and expertise of the two countries to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
Separately, the prospects for cooperation in the areas of digitalization and artificial intelligence were highlighted, including the exchange of experience and the use of technological capabilities in the Republic of Korea and the potential of Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized Kyrgyzstan's interest in further developing cooperation with the Republic of Korea and expanding the presence of Korean businesses in the country.
"We are interested not only in the implementation of individual investment projects, but also in the broad and long-term presence of Korean businesses in Kyrgyzstan. We are paying special attention to the development of industrial cooperation, the creation of joint ventures, and the localization of production," the head of state noted. In this regard, the President invited Korean companies to participate in projects in promising sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, textiles, electronics, and other industries.
President Sadyr Zhaparov also proposed that the governments of the two countries jointly identify several priority investment projects and provide support at all stages, from concept development to production launch.
At the same time, the President noted that the growing number of Kyrgyz citizens working in the Republic of Korea requires further improvement of the legal framework for pension provision.
In this regard, the President proposed expediting the completion of negotiations between the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Korea on a pension agreement and preparing the document for signing.
President Sadyr Zhaparov and Prime Minister Han Sung-sook emphasized the need to continue close cooperation between the relevant government agencies of the two countries and confirmed their commitment to work together to implement the agreements reached.
