Bishkek, Oct 27. 2025. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov is participating in the opening ceremony of the Karakul HPP today, October 27, as part of his working visit to Jalal-Abad region.
The construction of the Karakul HPP is one of the major achievements within the framework of comprehensive measures being implemented to ensure the country's energy security, provide stable and uninterrupted electricity supply to the region, and strengthen our national economy.
In 2023, the Ministry of Energy proposed an investment agreement, which was approved and ratified by the Cabinet of Ministers and the construction of the HPP began in September of the same year.
In accordance with the agreement, construction work was completed 5 months ahead of schedule. The construction of the Karakul HPP was to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.
