Bishkek, Nov. 26, 2025. /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov made a statement to the press following his meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the steady strengthening of Kyrgyz-Russian cooperation, particularly in the trade and economic sphere.
According to Zhaparov, special attention during the talks was given to expanding bilateral trade. Russia remains one of Kyrgyzstan’s key trading partners, accounting for 22% of the country’s total trade turnover.
“Nearly one quarter of Kyrgyzstan’s foreign trade falls on Russia,” he stressed.
Zhaparov noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics in mutual trade, reiterating that both sides are moving steadily toward their shared goal — reaching USD 5 billion in bilateral trade in the coming years.
The president also underscored the significance of cooperation in investment. Over the first six months of the current year, Russian direct investments in Kyrgyzstan amounted to USD 110 million.
“We always welcome the interest of Russian business circles in the market of the Kyrgyz Republic and stand ready to create all necessary favorable conditions for their successful activities,” Zhaparov said.
As of November 2025, more than 1,800 companies with Russian participation are operating in Kyrgyzstan, accounting for one-third of all foreign enterprises in the country.
To further stimulate investment cooperation, Zhaparov expressed full support for the initiative to establish the Association of Russian Investors in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the president, the new association is expected to become an effective platform for dialogue between the business communities of the two countries and a mechanism for strengthening cooperation between Russian investors and Kyrgyz state institutions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan on a state visit on November 25.
