Sadyr Zhaparov receives foreign ministers of CSTO member states in Cholpon-Ata

Bishkek, June 30, 2025. /Kabar/. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov today, June 30, received the foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization member states in Cholpon-Ata.

According to the presidential press service, the meeting was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev, Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov, Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, Russia Sergey Lavrov, Tajikistan Mukhriddin Sirojiddin and CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov.

An exchange of views took place on issues of expanding cooperation within the Organization, as well as on deepening interaction with international structures in matters of countering international challenges and threats.

The head of state emphasized that Kyrgyzstan perceives the chairmanship of the CSTO as a great responsibility and an opportunity to contribute to the further strengthening of cooperation and security in the region.

He noted that the problems of international terrorism, transnational crime, the spread of extremist ideology, cyber threats and external interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states are becoming increasingly urgent. In this regard, he noted that this state of affairs poses a serious danger to everyone and requires a unified and coordinated approach.

"The virtual space is becoming an arena for new conflicts and threats, so it is necessary to develop joint measures to protect critical infrastructure and ensure the security of the information field," the head of state said.

He expressed confidence that Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship and upcoming events will open up new opportunities for strengthening partnerships and forming effective approaches to developing a collective security system.

"Kyrgyzstan supports further deepening coordination between the ministries of foreign affairs, as well as interaction between defense and law enforcement agencies," the head of state noted.

President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed confidence that today's meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers will be productive, and its results will help find new solutions to ensure peace and stability in the region.

In turn, the foreign ministers expressed gratitude to the head of state for the warm welcome and the opportunity to meet.

The foreign ministers supported Kyrgyzstan's initiatives within the framework of the CSTO chairmanship, noting the importance of consolidating efforts to effectively respond to modern challenges and threats.

It was emphasized that strengthening multilateral cooperation, expanding political dialogue and coordinating positions on current issues on the international agenda remain priority tasks for all CSTO member states.

The heads of the foreign ministries of the CSTO member states focused on the need to strengthen mutual trust, ensure sustainable development and jointly promote initiatives within regional and international formats.
