Bishkek, Nov. 26, 2025. /Kabar/. The overhaul and full modernization of the second hydroelectric unit of the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) have been successfully completed, the Ministry of Energy reports.
This is the first major overhaul and complete equipment replacement of this scale since the plant's commissioning in 1962, and the second hydroelectric unit is now generating electricity reliably.
During the reconstruction:
- main turbine and generator components were completely replaced;
- automation, cooling, oil pressure, and control systems were upgraded to modern standards;
- introduction of cutting-edge global technologies significantly increased the plant's reliability and efficiency.
