SMEs' share in GDP reaches 51% in Kyrgyzstan, Cabinet head says

Bishkek, April 28, 2026. /Kabar/. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev held a meeting on the development and support of small and medium-sized entreprises(SMEs). The event was attended by representatives of state bodies and financial institutions.

Chairman noted that SMEs are the main driving force of the country's economy.

"Over the past 3 years, the share of SMEs in GDP has increased from 40% to 51%. This is an important indicator of sustainable economic growth. Development funds should pay special attention to projects in rural areas. It is necessary to provide appropriate support to enterprising citizens who want to implement projects," he said.

During the meeting, they presented draft program for the support and development of SMEs until 2030, and discuss the progress of the project "Preferential lending to business entities through interest rate subsidies" and ongoing measures to support small and medium-sized businesses.

As a result of the meeting, Cabinet gives number of tasks to state bodies, including the prompt approval of the program for the support and development of small and medium-sized businesses until 2030. The program is aimed at expanding entrepreneurs' access to financing through the introduction of preferential credit products and guarantee mechanisms.

At the same time, the development of a training, acceleration and business support system is being considered, which will allow increasing entrepreneurial competencies and project sustainability.
