Bishkek, Jan. 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Four schools in the Suusamyr rural municipality, Zhaiyl District, Chui Region, have switched to distance learning due to severe frosts, Azizbek Manapov, head of the rural municipality, told Kabar News Agency.
According to him, nighttime temperatures are dropping to -48 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures are hovering around -33 to -35 degrees Celsius. "Due to extremely low temperatures, schools in the villages of Tunak, Suusamyr, Pervomay, and Kozhomkul have switched to distance learning for one week," he said.
Earlier, Kabar reported that due to a sharp cold snap, schools in the Ak-Talaa region of Naryn Oblast have switched to distance learning for one week.
