Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry Bakyt Torobaev presented a report on preparations for spring fieldwork at meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agrarian Policy, Water Resources, Subsoil Use, Ecology, and Environmental Protection.
According to him, 893 wells are planned to be commissioned in 2026. The ministry has prepared 203 units of agricultural machinery, and local governments have ensured the readiness of approximately 1,000 more units of machinery.
In addition, design and construction work on irrigation systems will be carried out at 139 sites.
The minister announced that drip irrigation systems will be introduced on 21,000 hectares. 5,200 hectares are being supplied by the state, and another 14,740 hectares are being supplied by farmers themselves.
"To date, 57,000 tons of seeds have been harvested, with a supply level of 82.5%. For certain crops—soybeans, tobacco, and rice—the supply level has reached 100%. Also, 22 nurseries have prepared 15,037,000 seedlings for planting in 2026 for the spring season," he said.
