Bishkek, June 5, 2026 /Kabar/. During working visit to the Jalal-Abad Region, Erlist Akunbekov, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, inspected the operations of Uch-Kurgan HPP and the ongoing reconstruction work. Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers reports.
During the visit, the Deputy chairman was briefed on the implementation of measures aimed at modernizing the plant's main generating equipment, improving its production efficiency, reliability, and operational safety.
Construction and installation work is currently ongoing at the site, carried out by the general contractor, the Chinese company CNEEC. More than 100 specialists are involved in the project.
The modernization work is proceeding according to the approved schedule and is a key stage in the renewal of the country's energy infrastructure.
Uch-Kurgan HPP currently operates four hydroelectric units, two of which are currently undergoing modernization. Following completion of the repairs, the plant's installed capacity will reach 220 MW, and the service life of its main equipment will be significantly extended.
Following the review of the plant's operations and the progress of the repairs, Erlist Akunbekov emphasized the quality of the work being performed and instructed that to be completed on time. The modernization of the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Plant is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, in accordance with the approved schedule.
