Bishkek, May 29, 2026. /Kabar/. Large-scale environmental project to remediate uranium waste in Min-Kush, Naryn region, has been successfully completed.
In connection with this important event, memorial stele was solemnly opened in Min-Kush. Minister of Emergency Situations Kanatbek Chynybaev and the Director of the Russian State Corporation Rosatom Nikolai Spassky signed official protocol on the completion of the work.
As part of the project, the Kak, Tuyuk-Suu and Taldy-Bulak waste storage facilities were remediated, and hazardous waste was completely transferred to a specially prepared, safe temporary storage facility.
Thus, the project ensured the environmental safety not only of Kyrgyzstan, but also of the entire Central Asian region.
This large-scale program has been implemented by the Ministry of Emergency Situations and Rosatom within the CIS since 2013. As a result, the living conditions of local residents have improved and environmental threats have been eliminated.
Bilateral cooperation does not end. As part of the meeting, Kyrgyzstan and Russia approved a new plan of joint actions for the rehabilitation of the country's territories for 2026-2028.
