Uzbekistan is tapping into Belarusian experience in poultry farming, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Rakhmatulla Nazarov told journalists during an event for heads of diplomatic missions in Belarus on the agricultural industry on 26 March, BelTA has learned.

“Agricultural industry is one of the main areas of cooperation between our countries. Both Uzbekistan and Belarus specialize in it. The products we produce are not available in your country, and vice versa. Our economies complement each other. The largest share of trade comes from agricultural products and goods,” Rakhmatulla Nazarov said.

The diplomat added that today’s event would be useful for him and would serve as a good venue to meet with representatives of the relevant ministry in order to identify new areas for cooperation. The ambassador cited the adoption of Belarusian poultry farming experience in Uzbekistan as an example of a significant joint project. A facility with a capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per year has already begun operations in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent Oblast. Its products are supplied not only to the domestic market but also to neighboring countries.

Areas of mutual interest for the two states were identified during Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to Uzbekistan in 2024. At that time, the goal was to bring mutual trade to $1 billion, and according to Uzbekistan’s side, in 2025 the countries came very close to reaching this mark. Talks are underway to raise the figure to $2 billion in the near future.

Rakhmatulla Nazarov noted the high quality of Belarusian products. “In Uzbekistan, 80% of the population are Muslims. It is extremely important for us that halal products are available. Supplies from Belarus are certified accordingly,” he added.
