Bishkek, Feb. 3, 2025 /Kabar/. The harvesting of agricultural crops has been completed in Kyrgyzstan.
According to the material of the National Statistics Committee, by the end of 2024, grain crops were harvested from an area of 599.5 thousand hectares. 2.1 million tons of grain were threshed from the harvested area (excluding legumes, rice and buckwheat in weight after processing), which is 28.4% more than in the previous year. The average grain yield was about 35 centners per hectare.
Compared to the same period last year, the gross harvest of barley increased significantly - by 59.9%, wheat - by 51.0%, sugar beet - by 54.2%, fruit and berry crops - by 24.1% and melons - by 19.2%.
The increase in production is due to an increase in the yield of barley - by 8.9 centners per hectare, wheat - by 8.6, sugar beet - by 237.1, melons - by 19.1 and fruit and berry crops - by 5.5 centners per hectare. At the same time, the gross harvest of tobacco decreased - by 32.9%, cotton - by 27 and potatoes - by 7.5%. The decrease in the gross harvest is due to a decrease in the sowing area for the 2024 harvest compared to last year: tobacco area - by 42.0%, cotton - by 26.9% and potatoes - by 8.4%.
