Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2026 /Kabar/. A total of 137,000 citizens who have reached the age of 18 will participate in the presidential election in Kyrgyzstan for the first time, Tynchtyk Shaynazarov, Chairman of the country’s Central Election Commission (CEC), told during a session of the Jogorku Kenesh.
The CEC head noted that the agency would consider a proposal by MP Mirlan Jeenchoroev to present gifts to citizens voting for the first time.
"137,000 18-year-old citizens will participate in the presidential election for the first time. We calculated that if we were to give each of them a gift worth 1,000 soms, it would cost 137 million soms. However, there is a concern that we might face criticism. If you support this initiative, we are on board. Let us consider this matter," Shaynazarov said.
The presidential election in Kyrgyzstan will be held on January 27, 2027.
