62% of microloans spent for personal expenses in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, April 2, 2026. /Kabar/. According to the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, 1,685,000 people used the services of microcredit organizations in 2025, and the total amount of funds issued amounted to 85.9 billion soms.

According to their data, Bishkek is the leading city in terms of the number of borrowers, accounting for 36% of the total number of recipients (614,200 people). High lending activity was also recorded in Osh oblast (13%) (214,300 people), Jalal-Abad oblast (182,400 people), and Chui oblast (156,700 people). In other regions, the distribution was as follows: 127,300 borrowers were in Issyk-Kul Oblast, 118,400 in Batken oblast, 95,600 in Osh city, 89,500 in Naryn oblast, and 87,100 in Talas oblast.

In terms of the intended purpose of issued microloans, the majority (62%) was allocated to consumer needs. A significant portion of funding was also allocated to support agriculture (15%) and the development of the trade sector (10%). Transportation and communications accounted for 3% of funds issued, construction accounted for 2%, while other sectors accounted for 6%.
