Bishkek, Sept. 25, 2025. /Kabar/. New electric buses started its service in Bishkek. They began carrying passengers early this morning, Kabar news agency reported.
Compared to regular city buses, these modern vehicles feature a more spacious interior, three doors, 28 seats, and air conditioning that works in both hot and cold weather.
According to route #4 driver Janyl Chanakova, drivers have also liked the new model. It's great! The electric buses are new, comfortable, and very convenient. I left the bus depot this morning with a 100% charge. One trip took 12% of the charge, and I have 88% left. I plan to make 7-8 trips this day. The exact charge will become clear as the work progresses, she said. In the first phase, electric buses have been launched on routes #4, #10, and #11.
According to the Bishkek City Hall, electric buses will also be introduced on routes #14, #66, and #33 next week.
For reference: the ADB project provides a total of $50 million: $25 million in grant funding and $25 million in a 32-year concessional loan. The interest rate will be 1% for the first 12 years and 1.5% thereafter.
In total, 120 modern electric buses arrived in Bishkek.
