Aigul flower blooms in Kyrgyzstan's Batken

Bishkek, April 9, 2026. / Kabar/. The aigul flower, a miracle and symbol of Batken region has bloomed.

According to Batken oblast governor, it is currently the season when the flower blooms. The flower with long leaves, bell-shaped petals of orange color reaches a meter in height.

The peculiarity of the flower is that it grows only on the slopes of the mountains. The aigul flower is listed in the Red Book because it is rare in the world.

The aigul flower blooms its first flower seven years after the bulb is laid. Each year, one petal is added to it. You can tell its age immediately by looking at it. According to people, there were cases when 34 flowers bloomed.

It is worth noting that in order to protect the “Aigul-Tash” specially protected natural area located in Batken region and to preserve and further multiply the rare aigul flower, visiting the area was temporarily banned from March 1, 2026 to March 1, 2030.

During the period of restrictions, the "Aigul-Tash" specially protected natural area was placed under enhanced protection, and the management of Batken district forestry was entrusted with taking care of the growth of newly planted aigul flowers.
