Bishkek, Oct. 14, 2025. /Kabar/. Zheenaly Orozbekov, Chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service under the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, told the Kabar about the list of goods subject to state regulation. According to him, the Antimonopoly Service manages tariff policy and approves prices for services provided in government institutions.
For example, we can regulate prices in laboratories located in hospitals. The price of water is also agreed upon with the Service, Orozbekov noted.
He emphasized that in a market economy, entrepreneurs independently set prices for their goods and services: When demand is low, prices fall; when demand is high, prices rise. This is the basis of economic theory. However, the state intervenes in relation to socially significant goods—meat, dairy products, bakery products, fuel and lubricants, and feed.
The chairman reported that state regulation has been introduced for 90 days on meat and coal. Coal price regulation was introduced to prevent price increases. Despite this, there are still cases of violations of these regulations, he added.
State price regulation is aimed at curbing the rise in the cost of essential goods and ensuring food availability for the population during the heating season.
